This page explains how to have your data deleted from Tavvlo. Deletion is free, available to every user at any time, and does not require a reason. These instructions apply to all Tavvlo data, including anything associated with your use of Tavvlo over the WhatsApp Business Platform.
Fastest way to delete your data
Email privacy@tavvlotech.com from the email address registered to your Tavvlo account, with the subject line DELETE MY DATA. We acknowledge within 72 hours and complete deletion within 30 days. You will get written confirmation when it is done.
1. In short
- You can ask us to delete your data at any time, for any reason, at no cost.
- You can request it by email, on WhatsApp, or from inside your Tavvlo account.
- We verify that the request really comes from you, then delete.
- Deletion is permanent. Your reports, analytics history and connected outlets cannot be recovered afterwards.
- We keep only what the law requires us to keep — essentially invoices and tax records — and a minimal suppression record so we never contact you again by mistake.
2. Who can request deletion
- The owner of a Tavvlo account, for that account and everything in it.
- Anyone who has messaged Tavvlo on WhatsApp, for the messages and number associated with that conversation, even if they never created an account.
- A person authorised in writing by the account owner, or a nominee under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
- Anyone whose personal data we hold, exercising their rights under applicable data protection law.
3. How to request deletion
Use whichever of these is easiest. All three lead to the same process and the same timelines.
-
Email us — recommended
Send an email to privacy@tavvlotech.com with:
- Subject: DELETE MY DATA
- The email address registered to your Tavvlo account
- Your registered WhatsApp or mobile number
- Your restaurant or brand name, and the outlets involved
- Whether you want everything deleted, or only a specific part (see section 8)
Sending from your registered email address is the quickest route, because it verifies you automatically.
-
Message us on WhatsApp
Send the words DELETE MY DATA to the Tavvlo WhatsApp business number you normally receive your reports from. We will reply to confirm the request, verify that you are the account owner, and process it. If you only want your WhatsApp conversation history deleted and nothing else, say so in the message.
-
Ask from inside your account
Sign in to your Tavvlo dashboard, open your profile or settings, and use the account deletion option. If you cannot find it, or your plan does not show it, use the email route above and we will process it manually — the outcome is identical.
4. WhatsApp and Meta data
Tavvlo communicates with customers over the WhatsApp Business Platform through a Meta-authorised solution provider. This section is specifically about that data.
- What we hold from WhatsApp: your WhatsApp number, your WhatsApp display name, the messages you have exchanged with the Tavvlo assistant, and delivery status for messages we sent you. Nothing else.
- Tavvlo does not use Facebook Login. We hold no Facebook or Instagram profile data, no friend lists and no advertising identifiers, so there is no Facebook-sourced data to delete.
- Deleting it: a deletion request through any of the routes in section 3 removes your WhatsApp number, your display name and your entire conversation history from Tavvlo’s systems, and instructs our messaging provider to delete the message records it holds for you.
- Messages already delivered to your own phone stay in your own WhatsApp app until you delete them there. We cannot remove messages from your device.
- Data held by Meta or WhatsApp themselves is governed by their policies, not ours. To delete data held by Meta, use the controls in your WhatsApp and Meta account settings.
5. What happens after you request
| Stage | Timeline | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Acknowledgement | Within 72 hours | We confirm we received your request and tell you what will be deleted |
| Verification | Within 7 days | We confirm the request is genuinely from you or an authorised person. If you emailed from your registered address, this is usually immediate |
| Service stop | Immediately on verification | Reports, alerts, WhatsApp messages and all automations stop. Connected outlets are disconnected and credentials destroyed |
| Deletion | Within 30 days of verification | Your data is removed from our live systems and our data warehouse |
| Backups | Within 90 days | Encrypted backups holding your data expire on their normal rotation and are not restored |
| Confirmation | On completion | We email you written confirmation that deletion is complete |
Deletion is permanent. Once complete, your historical sales, payout, review and complaint data in Tavvlo cannot be recovered, and past reports cannot be regenerated. If you want a copy of your data, download your reports or ask us for an export before you request deletion — we are happy to provide one.
6. What gets deleted
- Your account, name, email address, mobile and WhatsApp number.
- Your authentication record and password hash.
- Your restaurant profile, outlet list and platform outlet IDs.
- All Swiggy and Zomato credentials, session tokens and connection settings — destroyed immediately on verification.
- All business data we retrieved for you: orders, sales, payouts, ratings, reviews, complaints, advertising, menu and operational metrics.
- Every report we generated for you, and the schedules that produced them.
- Your entire WhatsApp and web conversation history with the Tavvlo assistant.
- Your automation settings, review reply history stored in Tavvlo, and reputation configuration.
- Your entries in our messaging and notification lists.
7. What we must keep, and why
We keep the minimum required by law, and nothing more:
| What we keep | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Invoices, payment records and tax documents | Required under Indian tax and company law; we are not permitted to delete these on request | The statutory retention period |
| A suppression record — an internal identifier plus the deletion date | So a deleted account is never accidentally re-created, re-ingested or re-contacted. It contains no business data and is not used for any other purpose | Indefinitely |
| Aggregated, de-identified statistics | Combined across many restaurants; no individual outlet, person or customer can be identified from them, so they are no longer personal data | Indefinitely |
| Records needed for an active legal claim or investigation | Only if one exists at the time of your request, and only for as long as it is required | Until resolved |
Data that has been published outside Tavvlo — for example a reply posted to a review on Swiggy or Zomato — lives on that platform, not in our systems. Removing it is a matter for that platform, and we will tell you how to raise it with them.
8. Deleting only part of your data
You do not have to delete everything. Tell us in your request if you only want one of these:
- Disconnect one outlet — removes that outlet’s credentials and data, and keeps the rest of your account working.
- Delete platform credentials only — stops all future data collection, and keeps your historical reports and analytics.
- Delete conversation history only — erases your WhatsApp and web chat history with the assistant, and keeps your account and reports.
- Delete data older than a given date — useful if you only want to reduce how much history we hold.
9. Stopping messages without deleting anything
If you only want the messages to stop, you do not need to delete your data:
- Reply STOP to any Tavvlo WhatsApp message, and we stop messaging that number.
- Turn off individual reports and alerts in your Tavvlo notification settings.
- Email privacy@tavvlotech.com asking to be unsubscribed.
Cancelling your subscription also stops billing and messages, but it does not delete your data on its own. To delete, use section 3.
10. If you do not have a Tavvlo account
You may still be in our records — for example if you requested a demo, messaged our WhatsApp number, or are a staff member added by a restaurant owner. Email privacy@tavvlotech.com with the email address or phone number you used, and we will find and delete those records under the same timelines.
If you are a customer of a restaurant that uses Tavvlo and you left a review or complaint on Swiggy or Zomato, that content belongs to those platforms. We only mirror it for the restaurant’s own analytics. Write to us with the details and we will remove our copy; to remove it at source, contact the platform directly.
11. Confirmation and appeals
When deletion is complete we send you written confirmation by email, stating what was deleted and what was retained under section 7. Keep this for your records.
If we decline a request — which we would only do if we could not verify your identity, or if the law requires us to retain the specific records — we will explain why in writing and tell you what you can do next. You may escalate to grievance@tavvlotech.com, and if you are still not satisfied, to the Data Protection Board of India under the DPDP Act, 2023, or to the supervisory authority in your jurisdiction.
